72-Hour Notification – Blasting to Begin

Dear Neighbours and Community Members,

As part of the Spearhead Innovations Inc. Expansion Project, we will begin controlled blasting operations on our rezoned property later this week. This work is necessary to prepare the land for our ongoing expansion project in a safe manner. McCaw’s Blasting and Drilling Ltd will conduct the blasting operations in conjunction with Kays Contracting.

Blasting is expected to begin as early as Wednesday, July 23, 2025 and will continue through the beginning of September. Blasting will occur twice daily, Monday through Friday, at approximately 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM. These times may vary slightly depending on conditions.

Location of Blasting:

Highway 3A,between Crescent Road and Starlight Road, Nelson, BC

Scheduled Dates of Blasting:

Wednesday, July 23, 2025 until early September 2025

‍

Expected Times of Blasting:

‍

Between 11:30AM and 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday‍

Please note that specific blast times may vary slightly due to weather or safety considerations.‍

‍

What to Expect:

‍

• To ensure the safety of everyone in the area, each blast will be signalled and carefully managed:

‍

1. 12short horn blasts will sound two minutes before blasting occurs.
2. After the blaster has cleared the blasting, there will be one horn blast for approximately five seconds.
3. Blasting will not resume until you hear 12 short horn blasts again.

‍

• Brief traffic holds on Highway 3Aare expected around the time of each blast. These holds are expected to last between2 and 5 minutes and are being managed in conjunction with the Ministry of Transit and Transportation.

‍

• Expect ground vibrations similar to a train passing through or a clap of thunder within close proximity.

‍

We recognize that blasting operations will create some disturbance, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we move forward with this project.
